Suction Discharge Pressure Equalises After Cut Off
This compressor is a heavy duty chiller compressor(Copeland). This is having a temp. cut in- cut out settings of 8 to 12 degree celsius. When the compressor is running it is having a suction pressure of 60 psi and discharge pressure of 160 psi, but as soon as it cuts off discharge pressure equalises with the suction pressure and comes to 120 degree celsius. And the cooling side is also not that effective. It is just cooling only. What may be the problem?
Thanks and Regards

Re: Suction Discharge Pressure Equalises After Cut Off
Maybe compressor valves damaged.

Re: Suction Discharge Pressure Equalises After Cut Off
Many of newcomers do that. It is in human nature that someone wants that his "big problem" get most attention he could accomplish.
Especially, if he is 11 years old. We are spared of crying and rolling on the floor thanks to no direct optical and audio connection of this type of conversation!
Just joking!Last edited by nike123; 23-06-2008 at 12:11 AM.

Re: Suction Discharge Pressure Equalises After Cut Off
Most likely worn valves but could be the internal pressure relief valve ???
Try doing a pump down test to see what kind of vac it will pull.

Hi
may be a faulty oil separator float or compressor unload solenoid valves ?

Re: Suction Discharge Pressure Equalises After Cut Off
What comes to 120 degrees celcius. Is it the discharge temperature? If it is and the compressor is reciprocating you could also have worn cylinders, pistons and/or piston rings. Maximum discharge temperature should be around 107 centigrade. Depending on system design could be normal that pressure equalizes but it should not happen fast. If you specify compressor model, refrigerant and media temperature of both condenser and evaporator maybe we could use the pressures you mentioned for something useful.
