Condenser Head Pressure Control
We are in the process of designing a new refrigeration sytem - large (> 5,000 ton), with multi-stage centrifugal compressor, using hydrocarbon refrigerant, multiple evaporators, water-cooled condenser.
Question - Can anyone shed light on the positives and negatives of using "water flow control to the condenser" versus "gas bypass from the compressor discharge to the receiver" to control condenser pressure? I've personally only used the water flow control scheme, but the contract engineering design firm is suggesting the gas bypass scheme.
