Thread sealer
Hello guys, I've got a beermaster condensing unit with a fusible plug on the receiver that leaks around the threads. Can you guys recommend a good thread sealant for use on fridge gas or will plain old ptfe tape do?

Re: Thread sealer
ptfe tape would do, other than that I have previously welded it in.

Re: Thread sealer
How did you weld it in without damaging the fuse?

Re: Thread sealer
I've been using 'Trublue' made by a company called Rectorseal and sold by RPW. Its only a few quid for a 50g tube. I like it better than 'leaklock' which does the same job and is sold by NRS/climatecentre, it also used to be blue but is now in a yellow tube for some reason.

Re: Thread sealer
HRP didn't have anything in stock, so I ended up just using the ptfe - Worked fine.

Re: Thread sealer
Depends on the refridgerant. PTFE will only work on R22. R407C and R134a are known to degrade the ptfe, so only loctite 55 can be used! only dowside is, it takes 24 hours to dry!

Re: Thread sealer
Lowrider - I didn't know / even thought about the possibility of degradation with 407c. I'll find out next year during the next maintenance visit

Re: Thread sealer
Loctite 55 is cord made of Polyamide and don't need any drying.

Did you mean Loctite 554?
