    copeland compressors

Does anyone know how to break down the model number on copeland compressors? Application, size (ton/hp), oil type, voltage rating. Any rules of thumb I can use to cross one model comp to another with a different (even slightly) model?

    Hi

    This is for copeland scrolls

What do Copeland® Scroll™ refrigeration compressor model numbers signify and what refrigerants are approved for use with them? ANSWER : Copeland® Scroll™ refrigeration compressors (such as ZBxxKA-PFV) are designated by a "Z" in the first position of the model number. The second position determines the application range (B = high/medium temperature, S = medium temperature, F = low temperature). The third and fourth positions represent the first two digits of the capacity of the compressor at its standard rating conditions and the fifth position gives the multiplier for the capacity (C = 100, K = 1,000, and M = 10,000). The sixth position designates the compressor's model generation. If there is a seventh position before the dash prior to the electrical designation, it will be an E (Polyol Ester oil) or an L (shipped less oil). If there is nothing in the seventh position, the compressor has mineral oil in it. Electrical designations (such as PFV) are the same as other Copeland® models. For picture diagrams, go to Copeland's Online Product Information (OPI) database and search nomenclatures by product category.

    I dont know for others.
If it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.

    Good posts Chunk
It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

    cool,
I just finished a Copeland Copelametic compressor specification table and put it on the web. I hope you find it useful.
    Just click on: http://www.hvacrinfo.com
and follow the link to Copeland Compressor Specifications "Data" in the right hand column.

please check first the capacity of the old compressor and supplied voltage. if it compatible then you could modified it.

in refrigeration systems; check your drier, txv, and refrigerants if they are compatible, the oil you can use suniso 4gs, 3gs etc. depends on the capability of oil in refrigerant you use.
