A 6,000 BTU coaxial condenser is the most commonly used with good success.

MG Pony thanks for your reply,

I'm building the HE myself so I need the required surface area of copper pipes in order to deliver to the water 500 Watts of cooling load.

    Thanks.

If it is just for fun, research some of my old threads, other wise cheaper to simply buy a Hx.

Re: R134a / Water Heat Exchanger Sizing

I followed your advice and read some of your older posts and I discovered Dan Cap. I need to clear some things in my mind about refrigeration terms since I new at cooling things! My job is to warm things up not cool them so I need some help.

When a manufacturer refers to evaporating temperature does it refer to the refrigerant temp. during evaporation or the cooling fluid temp.?

    Thanks once again.

the refrigerant temp boiling inside the exchanger, it will need to be 6 or so degrees cooler then your desired fluid temp.

    Thanks once again MG Pony

How can we calculate / predict the temperature of R134a at the different stages having an evaporating temp. of 10 C?
