If your wanting to use the existing compressor and maintain the current temperature the answer would be no if this were the typical refrigerant or air cooled compressors. R-22 is a high pressure gas and R134a is a low pressure gas.

More information is needed, such as model numbers, application, etc. for a definitive answer.

    airneel,

I want to reiterate that you cannot retrofit an existing system from R22 to R134a unless the compressor is designed for the lower pressures, which would change the btuh and operating temperature range.

Please provide more information about the job.
