Try Trane.com, although you won't find info on stuff that was only made in Europe there, it is pretty good for anything else.
Or give your local Trane office a ring - the Manchester no. is 01706 752310. If it's manuals and such you're after, they usually make a charge to cover their time in putting it all together, especially if it's an old unit and the info. isn't on the shelf.
If it's general info you're after, I'm sure there's at least one person here who can help.

My tuppance worth is that charging for a manual sucks
    (Have I spelt tuppance right ? )

I remember years ago, I rang Hubbard Refrigeration requesting a manual for one of their Scotsman Ice Makers.

They said, no problem, it will cost you something like 50 Bucks......

I have NEVER bought a Scotsman since.............

Some may argue that.............." What about costs, blah blah........

Do you know what Bill Gates did when he developed Windows?

HE GAVE IT AWAY FOR FREE

So much that every pc in the world had one

    It became the STANDARD

And knocked apple computer for a six

And once it was entrenched..............he charged for it.

Now he can lounge in his palace in Seattle and watch Boeings fly over him.

psss.............Trane, if you are listening, do you have a vacancy for a Marketing Manager??, ahem, Director !!

    Hi Aiyub

If you have a relationship with the particular company, ie. you buy a lot of kit from them, or you have a good freind who can get their hands on them, then perhaps they would give you the manuals.
If you don't, or if you're in direct competition with the suppliers service arm, then I can't see why anyone would expect to get given all the information for free. You wouldn't help a competitor for free would you?
Trane are actually one of the better ones for technical support, in my experience. Also, Airedale's website is really good, as are their tech. support guys. Never had to ask York, but I have contacts there who could probably help me out on the QT. As for Carrier, forget it! I hear from my contacts that they're actually tightening up on what information they'll give out. As far as I know, Linde, Hussman and NRC (when they were still around) never even had a technical support desk!
I believe that most, if not all of the manufacturers have a policy of not giving out passcodes and the like on technical support, for obvious reasons.
Finally, most equipment ships with manuals, some admittedly better than others. If someone is stupid enough to lose them, or dishonest enough to take them when they get kicked off site, why should the supplier give them more manuals for free?

Tech support in the U.K. is free too, just phone the local office. They all have technical support people. Torque, if your site is near your home address, then speak to a guy called Pete Mahoney at the Rochdale office. He's a good bloke - given me plenty of help in the past.
It's only if you need copies of manuals and such that they might charge for the copies.

I guess youre right Freezer Geezer..............my reply or thought angle was far too " general"

When you start getting into the bigger stuff, more specialised stuff, then absolutely, you cannot start throwing your info about.

Theres a cost attached to everything, and theres intelligence gathering and divulgence of information, which has not only been earned by companies at huge cost, but requires to be maintained.

To protect your competiveness in the marketing place, there is a level of circumspectiveness required, but this has to be weighed and balanced against the marketing projectiveness that a company requires to survive.

It is a polarisation effect, not easy to bring together.

So in a nutshell, yes, you cannot afford to be niggly when youre in the soap suds game, but in the higher echelons of technology, the masses and far appeal does not matter, business is formed around solid relationships which remain loyal and enduring.
