    E36 should be discharge temperature abnormality.
    E42 should be current (compressor currentabn.).

    E36= Compressor discharge temperature:
    • The discharge temperature is abnormally high
    • Insufficient refrigerant
    • Poor airflow through condenser coil
    • Compressor discharge temperature sensor (ThOD) defective

    E42= Compressor Current:
    • Abnormally high current detected in inverter compressor

    Good luck!

    E 36
    "Discharge temperature abnormality"
    "A stop occurs when this abnormality occurs for 2 seconds running at 130°C.
    After a stop for 3 minutes, an recovery is automatically made.
    An abnormal stop occurs when this abnormality occurs 2 times for 60 minutes.
    (The abnormal state is held for 45 minutes.)"

    E42
    "Current cut" (translates to compressor over-current in proper English)
    "An abnormal stop occurs when this abnormality occurs 4 times for 15 minutes."

    The above is from the manual for the 280, but I assume the fault codes and descriptions are the same.

    (I need to learn how to touch type. But hey, at least we agree)

    Update, dont know why i was told E42 or E36. I set off this morning at 3.30am got to westminster at 8am (bad traffic as usual) and on the main controller the fault code was E05 which meant indoor/outdoor transmission. so straight away i went to the outdoor board to find no power so the i checked the isolator to find it off. I spoke to the manager who said that E05 had been flashing up for the past 2 days.
    I stayed with it for a few hours to check that the isolator hadn't been turned off for a reason and the unit ran fine and didn't fault once.
    So 5 hours down there to turn on an isolator..... very frustrating

    But not always unusual for London or some other cities.

    Either vandals or people living in flats who can't sleep with the noise of the condensing unit running.

    Funnily enough the condensors are on a locked roof inside the hotel and only 2 people have the key. Although any number of the hotel guest could literally climb out of their window and switch them off. But if that was the case then why only one? there are 5 of them.
