    Help

I really appreciate all the ideas I received after my first posting!!! Thanks A lot Guys

Any ideas on generating new account thought marketing efforts would be helpful to me as well. Are there any mailing lists out there that cater to our business? If so has anyone used a specific list with success? Any sample letter’s or marketing material that member’s have used to generated new accounts would be appreciated. Has anyone ever tried cold calling into Bars, Taverns, Restaurants, Corner Stores, and Deli’s with any success? I know I have a ton of questions, but I’m trying to get the business back to level it was when my father was running things. I’m only 27 but I have been in the field since 1995 I have a lot of experience. It seems I’m having a tough time getting business because of my age? Did any of you folks experience this? Are there any ways around the age game?

    I really appreciate your Ideas!!!

    Hi Pax*****,

The best marketing... is DO THE JOB RIGHT !

When you do a job, stand behind your work. In my shop I never have "call backs", I only have second opportunities to please the customer". It is a privelege to have someone call you back, after they have some problem with the work you have previously performed....... If they didn't have any trust in you, they would've called someone else !!!!!

If you invest in the yellow Pages, or some other marketing scam, you would be fortunate to realize 3% return on your investment !!!!! And that would be a world record.

If you screw up a job, and the customer is dissatisfied, He will tell 25 other fellows...... If you do the job RIGHT... and really please someone..... He will tell 3 other fellows...........

Concentrate on your performance.... someone recomending you to a friend is worth 500 times the return on $4,000.000 a year in Yellow Pages advertising.... (PS... usually the Yellow Page Ad referals are from "dead Beats" who screwed over the regular Co.that they used to use... Lettin' their fingers do the walkin' ..... and are shopping for someone else to give them credit (screw over) )

Sittin' in the office and scrutinizing advertising agreements isn't going to help you...

GET OUT HERE AND DO A GOOD JOB !!!
    see ya'

    PS...

Are you sitting on your arse, with nothing to do?.... If so my response my differ... however I feel you are forward-looking... therefore my previous response applies... You may re-post with further details if I am incorrect.

Herefish summed it up 110%. Even I couldnt better what he just said...........

Your best advert..............is you and your work. Age is no barrier...............in fact it is an advantage

Do every job meticulously, with care and love and do it right...........first time

Dont go the Cheap route to gain custom, and dont go rip off either.

Go steady, get paid for your worth, experience, training. You are not a charity, you are in business. People understand this, the good customers understand this and appreciate this.

Those that dont..................Do you really want them? Delete them.

And get your business hat on. Make strategically tough and hard rules and stick to them. ie: Be critical on account receivables and be good on account payables.

Dont upset your vendors..............let them trust you. Run a tight but freindly ship.

Dont be a Captain ............( whats his name) from the Caine Mutiny.

And.................never lose your temper..............If you want to tell someone to go to hell................., do so in the nicest possible way, with a soft tone and smile on your face........He might even look forward to the trip.

Work hard...................and plan to every last detail. Dont go for everything. Specialise in one particular area, but in the fridge game you must also be broad and versatile.

And play too.................if a customer or vendor is Good.................Tell them. Phone them, send them a card, or chocs for their kids.

If something goes wrong or someone slips up..............Tell them. You will not be taken for granted

I dont want to go on................its getting late

But Print out what Herefish posted and stick it high in big bold above your office.

His advice is Worth its weight in Gold

    Terra

    And all the best.......................Kiddo

I'll second (Or third? ) the hit the bricks and treat people with honesty and respect theory.

Don't go wasting a whole ton of money on the YP ads, a small entry in the column is sufficient.
