    pressure release duration in refrigerator

    Dear All,
I would like to put my own control logic on top of the existing one to control the domestic refrigerator.

    Q1:
Does anyone know how long it will approximately take for a standard domestic refrigerator to release the pressure of the compressor, after the refrigerator is switched off?
i.e. it is safe to switch on the refrigerator again.

    Q2:
the similar question, how long does it normally take to build up the pressure difference in compressor to make the refrigerator start cooling?

    Thank you very much.

Q1, hard to say exactly but relate your restarting time to that specified by the manufacturer. There is a limit to the number of times a compressor should be started within a set time period.

    Q2, about 10 seconds.

    Thanks, Brian_UK. It's very useful.

By the way, is there any resources that I can reference?

usualy for a cap tube system I'd wager absalute minimum time delay befor restart would be 15 minutes with a good safety factor.

but thats a educated guestimate based on personal experiance with small domestic fridges.

By Danfoss literature, standstill period for pressure equalizing for most domestic refrigerators (with low start torque compressors and capillary tube) is about 5 minutes and for domestic freezers is 8-12 minutes.

    Thanks for your comment, Nike123.
It would be very kind of you to send me the literatures according to the standstill period for pressure equalization.

I can't send you literature because it is in printed form and I don't have scanner near me. But I am sure that you could find plenty informations on internet. Google and some good keywords makes miracles.

Why on earth did you want to complicate simple things?

Perfect so my practical experiance has tuaght me well! 5minutes with a 10 minute safety factor freezers with a 3 minute safety factor!

Thanks for the info! No longer just a practical guestimate

    LONG LIVE Q-BASIC!
