    Re: more daikin crap

    Yes,
But as I object to your heading of this thread.........

(And besides, we would need the full model ref to be able to answer your question).

P.S. let's keep this forum nice, informative and FRIENDLY, if you just want to throw excrement around I suggest you find a local play group.

(And NO, I have no ties with Daikin what so ever.)

What makes you think it needs 2.5mm2 cable?

Indoor unit will take its power from the outdoor for its fan motor and pcb's. Interconnects can be 1.5mm as they are low voltage. You could run the power fro the indoor in 1.5 but not recommended.

The interconnect cable has to be rated for mains voltage - it is not ELV, i.e. 50v or less, and should be sized in accordance with BS7671.

Yes I know, but a lot of folks think that LV = 50v or less

Had a good look in side the indoor unit electrics box today and can see no good reason why this unit would need a 2.5 interconecting (install book tells you to use 2.5)it even has a 5amp inline fuse on no1 conection(live).I just can not see the point as it is only on the 60 and 71 range, back to 1.5 on a 100 and 125.

    Re: more daikin questions

The interconnecting cable on the 'split' units needs to be rated to what ever the main power supply to the outdoor unit is. ie 20amp MCB interconnecting needs to be rated at 20amp. This is because the 240v is looped straight from the main power supply so is still fused at the main MCB. Might have been easier to say that it is not sub-fused in the outdoor unit.

Good point did`nt think of that! the 100 and 125 single phase units(30amp) are fused down on the outdoor pcb and that is why they still use the 1.5 cable.
