Ambient temperature and fridge energy consumption
I have a quite straightforward question - but my apologies, I haven't had any luck finding answers elsewhere.
I work for a renewable energy project, putting solar power systems in to remote locations in central Australia.
Guaguing fridge consumption is a big part of sizing our systems. We have data here in average consumption for fridge models - but we can find no scientific ways to account for the influence of ambient temperature.
While we understand there are a lot of variables here, eg fridge model - we are hoping to find some rules to apply when temperature moves away from stanards.
We have desert sites, with cold nights and days up to high 40**Cs, and tropical sites which are hot and humid all year.
Any advice or direction would be appreciated,
regards, Emma

Re: Ambient temperature and fridge energy consumption
Get in contact with a refrigeration engineer, what you are asking can be calculated pretty easily but would need to be done at any given condition you describe, for each individual system design, rules of thumb aren't that good
...and she said "give it to me you big fridgie"
