    415v crankcase heaters

Hi. Does anybody know of where I can get 415v crankcase heater tapes from. They need to be 1000mm long and 70w. I've tried RPW,Climate center and Google with no luck.

    Re: 415v crankcase heaters

I had this problem years ago,

In the end I ended up fitting a transformer and using a standard 240V heater.

    Re: 415v crankcase heaters

I have to ask - why the transformer ?

If the unit is three phase 415v why not tap off one phase to get the 230v?

Or am I missing some 'correct electrical procedure'?

Well, I assumed that as the question were asked, the unit in question lacks the Neutral (and it is really bad practice to connect it to earth)....

But I might be wrong, it have happened once in the past.

Viking is right it is not good practice to use the earth as the neutral, reason being the earth could be defective and if so you will liven up any metal part of the installation. Earth connections are either to a water pipe (old houses) or a metal stake in the ground.
A 415V transformed is the probably the best way of using a 240V heater.

    Hi,
If you're looking for a belt type crankcase heater to go around a hermetic compressor, you could try this one:

Danfoss Maneurop has a 400V 75W crankcase heater for the MTZ-4cylinder compressors. The perimeter of this compressor is about 97 cm. The code for it is 7773014.
You could check with your local Danfoss Maneurop dealer (D&W ?)
    Best regards

I also face a similar problem. Finally I used 415 transformer with neutral . Problem solved.

Who mentioned that the earth was going to be used as a neutral?

If you have a neutral available then you wouldn't need a 415v heater tape

Jeeez, so many answers I can't get in to say - fair comment, no neutral so no 230v - quite correct.

I'll just sit in the corner until you've all stopped beating on me
