    Question discharge pressure too high



    hello everybody...

    i'm new in refrigeration so i want to know why the discharge pressure is to high even if i run only 1 compressor.the pressure is 50 psi suction & 225 psi discharge,if i run 2 compressor,suction pressure is the same value but discharge will go higher to 300 psi.can you help me...

    First,

    We do need more information about your system to be able to assist you....

    Secondly,
    To me, 300 PSI head pressure sounds absolutely normal but this will depend on the refrigerant used and what system we are looking at.

    Please, tel us saturation temperatures instead of pressure, also subcooling and superheat. Then, air or water temperatures in and out of evaporator and condenser.

    We certianly need more info as others have stated. Sounds like you have a tandem system with a single circuit condenser?

    High head press is not caused by the compressor if thats any help. Check charge, evap load and firstly the condenser, then expansion valve

    First you need to convert head pressure to saturated condensing temperature (SCT) using a pressure temperature (P/T) chart. Then you need to determine the temperature of the air entering the condenser. The difference between these two temperatures (condenser TD) should be 20-35F/11-19.5K. If the TD is in this range, then the pressure is normal.

    Hey buddy,looks like you getting answers from all over here.Follow the advice given,but do efficiency tests on the compresors just to be sure,they are the heart of the system after all.Then just take it from there....hope it helps...
