NH3 Liquid pumps
What is the purpose of a Q,min and Q,max orifice plate on a liquid ammonia pump?

This is to control the minimum and maximum flow rate of the pump to allow optimum heat transfer, I think.

The q min is to ensure proper cooling of the motor and for general lubrication of the pump parts. The q max is an overload preventor.

Minimum flow for cooling the electrical motor or for cooling the mechanical seal. Maximum flow for pump prime. At high flow the pump can loose prime.
