Alco Expansion Valve
Hi everyone,
This is my first post, so be gentle!
I'm having trouble locating a replacement Alco expansion valve. The details I have from it are LMCHF4L. It appears to have a heater on the bulb which is fitted inside a pocket on a suction accumulator.
The refrigerant was R12 and is now R413a.
Any help or info would be much appreciated.

Re: Alco Expansion Valve
I don't recognize the model number but the description you gave leads to me to believe you have a liquid level control valve. Sporlan also had something like this called a Level Master.
The heated bulb simply allowed the TXV to open, which allowed liquid refrigerant to flow through the valve and replenish the liquid in the accumulator.
When the liquid level in the accumulator reached the bulb, the bulb then cooled off, which forced the valve to close.
I tried to find the Sporlan document on their website, but it is going through a update right now, so I can't post a link for you to read about this.
Hope that helps in some small way.
PS. Welcome to the RE forums. If all else fails, ask for help.

Re: Alco Expansion Valve
Danfoss also make one it's a TEVA valve. It is basically a TEA 20,85 TX valve with a heater assisted power assembly and uses the same orifices ranging from 1 TR to 85 TR. These are generally used on NH3 but if you contact Danfoss they would be able to tell you if you can use it on R413a.

Re: Alco Expansion Valve
This is a "thermo valves for liquid injection", from ALCO Catalog 15.30 very old, Feb 1972. Search what they do.

Re: Alco Expansion Valve
The "heater" may be a coil from solenoids.
