On your gas handle training you should of been told about Tremcards.
Drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous loads, including high pressure cylinders, must carry details of what to do in an emergency. This information is often provided in the form of Transport emergency cards - or Tremcards as they are usually known. These cards are instantly recognisable. The information they contain is laid out in consistent order. The cards are always in the driver's cab in the driver's native language. A card identifies the product and describes the nature of the hazard. So the driver always knows exactly what is being carried, and the immediate actions needed in the event of an accident.
The European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) has also provided a series of Emergency Response Intervention (ERIC) Cards specifically for use by fire brigades.

COSSH data sheets could be used and must be easly available.

Re: TREM Cards - Do You Carry Them?

    Hi Guys.
I'm sure Taz or some other of our better informed colleagues will correct me.
As I understand it there is a minimum capacity you need to be carrying before a trem card is needed.
1 turbo torch cylinder does not necessitate the need to carry a trem card.
But you may be challenged for not displaying the class 2 red (flammable) Diamond on the back of your
    Vehicle.
I am lucky enough to have an Mondeo Estate so what we carry is limited. Despite this it is still company policy for us to carry trem cards and display the red and green Diamonds on the back.
We will also soon be carrying our own individual packs containing our M.S.D.S sheets (COSHH ).
Not to be confused with data sheets.
Also within the pack we will have our generic site method statements and generic risk assessments.
Add to this we are all expected to compile daily risk assessments prior to starting work.
Oh! and don't forget the "tool box talk record sheets"
Luckily for me the Mondeo has a big boot and large back seats with a healthy foot well.
Who do you work for Brian as they seem on the ball as well?
    Cheers Grizzly

Yes, our firm is pretty hot on Mr 'elf'n'safety but must admit that I have been reasonably pleased with the way that it is done.

There are times, of course, when you feel that you could do without it but that's bound to be the day that you trip over your ladder.

We have regular ('ish) team talks when our Health and Safety issues are refreshed. The saftey book is a useful tool in that it covers what you need in plain english and can work both ways if you feel endangered anywhere.

Risk Assessments are done for 'every' site visit but via a pre-printed book that we all carry.

We also get fresh one-man first aid kits so if you want a large, out of date, triangular bandage for a broken arm - then I'm your man

Never mind the legalities of the quantities etc you have a 'duty of care' to protect others.

In the event of a vehicle accident the fire officer or police officer or ambulance paramedic has a right to as safe a working evironment as you would like.

Would you reach into a burning or smouldering vehicle when you can see gas bottles in the back without knowing what is in them?

boc told me that when i took out the contract with them 2 yeat ago
I would bet my legs that the stickers on the back doors would be miles high in smoke as well as the driver before the cylinders blew
The emergency services treat all comercial vehicle fires as potential explosions
But the reason i dont have the stickers on is because they are thief magnets

Thumbs up Re: TREM Cards - Do You Carry Them?

    Hi coolincab.
A lot of my collegues prefer the magnetic type. Supprisingly the do stick but guess what!
They cost a lot more. I use the conventional plastic adhesive backed version. But I stick them to the inside of the rear window. ( same as fitting a tax disk holder). They don't then leave traces of where they have been in the paintwork. Handy for when the vehicle (leased) is handed back

Re: TREM Cards - Do You Carry Them?

so does anyone know what the quota youre allowed before you need a trem card??? At most i'll be carrying a small bottle of nitrogen, portapack (small oxy-acet) and a dumpy, and even then that would be rare, I've got the stickers (on the back) and currently printing off the COSHH sheets, will that be enough?
