Hi everyone
I have a system which is pumping down on an Alco valve.
Can anyone tell me if orifices on Alco valves are similar to Danfoss ones, i.e when the pin of the orifice is pressed in the orifice should let by.
Thanks

Valve is otherwise fine, have tested with N2
Hi Contactor
there are some pictures on my page under pictorials that give a nice view of exactly how a txv works
when a unit is pumping down if all else is ok (charge/drier ect) its normaly the power head assembly has lost it charge

Unscrew the power assembly put a small coin into it and screw it back on. If it doesnt pumpdown the power assembly is duff.
Cheers
Stu.
And yes the bellows should act on the spring and open the valve f not check the inlet screen and the cage.
Those pictorals look like Danfoss. The orifices are different.
alco orifices have a plastic pin in danfoss ones dont and i think u size down to next size for danfoss from alco has been a few yrs since i have used an alco valve they were never as reliable as danfoss and yes principle of working is same but they block up easier :)
If its looks like a tx2 valve then i expect it would work the same way, same as the old teddington ones etc.
If in doubt change it out!
Jon :)
Alco and Danfoss orifices are not interchangeable (on non power assemblies anyway), i found this out to my cost as a first year apprentice, still have the bruise where i got belted!

The working principles exactly the same but they're not interchangeable if that was what you were looking for.
Time is money, just replace it and go on down the road!
Good advice texas, but i already changed it. I used the old orifice, it worked ok for a few days. Im wondering if the orifice damaged the valve in some way, it looks ok, cant blow through it with the pin in, its a size 00 so maybe would be difficult anyway.
