I have always used Spectroline's kit. It works quite well.
Just make sure you wear gloves, injecting the dye makes a right mess.
Chillin:) :)
I have used Spectroline quiite a bit especially on pack sites and never had a problem, works very well. However have to aggree with Chillin, make sure you wear gloves, once its on youre had it takes ages to get off. What i used to do instead of trying to inject it in, if i was changing the oil, add it into the oil first, then pump the oil in, vac and run up.

We were told that Bitaer does not recommend that for their compressors. What is the general experience on these? we generally use R 404A in our systems
I don't think any manufacturer 'recommends' adding anything to the system.
I think this is only for if there is a problem with a compressor and they find the dye in it, they could say the dye caused the failure. (just to get out of replacing it under warranty)
Chillin:) :)
Be carefull if you've got it on your hands, when you're dancing in the night club under ultraviolet light you get some very funny looks! especialy if the police raid the joint looking for the guy who robbed the security van and got coverd in dye!
Not had much luck with dye in freezer rooms with oil seps it gets stuck in the sep and compressor oil.
Kind regards
Lrac
hey i found a leak by using the dye and would recommend it to anyone after spending days on trying to find a leak on a chiller the dye found it with using the torch and the glasses no problem and it turned out to be on the hp switch through the electrical part on the top amazing when the leak was right on our face never mind got ther in the end thanks alot adam
Excellent advice.......thanks!!:)
I use this one, it is very good. http://www.advancedengineering.co.uk...ct.asp?pid=626
I purchased it to prove a point when I condemed an evap on a blast freezer and another engineer came in and said I was mistaken, I nearly lost the contract after he recharged it with gas, I had another opportunity to work on the system but things were very strained between me and the customer, he thought I was trying to rip him off, I put dye in the system, went back next day and it was unmistakable, dye all down the coil ends, I was happy and retained the contract even though the other engineer tried to do me and my reputation a lot of damage.
I NOT BAD.DID YOU NOT HAVE IT ON YOUR FIRST CALLOUT?
:confused::confused::confused:.
