Someone went to a lot of trouble so don't have to clean sight glass.
Basically a stiff bristled springloaded brush that can be rotated like a car windshield wiper.
Area it came from renowned for smoking hemp & alternate lifestyle.

You're very observant, yes, compressor damaged, but I'm cured.;)
He wanted to show the trumpet-facing glass pipe oil return from the separation of oil. Seeing the oil and the liquid, is still glass clean.
