R&D in the UK

Interested in finding an opportunity to work in the R&D side of the industry, not as someone that knows much but to work in a practical role where there might be opportunities to learn as well. I know theres companies like Hall, Howden, Star, Aggreko that do development of heavy/industrial and Dearman for the more unusual. But are there any companies that I might not have heard of that have R&D sites in the UK?
