Do you mean C.A (controlled atmosphere as used for storing fruits, meat etc)
This is a general term for controlling oxygen levels (not limited though) as well as temp, humidity and by nature of the beast pressure. Most use CO2, but nitrogen is also common.

Perhaps I am a bit late with a response, but as 'mad fridge' explained, controlled atmosphere most commonly refers to the monitoring and control of temperature, carbon dioxide, oxygen, and occasionally ethylene.
Controlled atmosphere is constantly monitoring and controlling the atmosphere in a confined space.
Modified atmosphere typically refers to the one-time modification of the atmosphere, without continuous control and adjustment.
