service switch

I have a split unit ac Hitachi ras-24cp6. there is a switch hidden on the indoor unit called "service swtich" that switches between Normal or Cool.

what is the use of this switch?

I lost my remote control, tried to start the ac from the indoor unit. but did not work unit i reached that button and swithced to Cool. but i'm afraid it's making the compressor always on.
any body have an idea about this switch please?

The service switch will overide the controler and run it so
it can be maintained and serviced while running.

You will need to find the remote I think to run and set it correctly.

You can get a universal aircon remote control and use it. Probably cheaper than a new remote, and they generally can be used for most brands.
