Go on boys - time to brag as to who has the biggest - It not how big it is, it is what you cool with it that counts.:D
Interesting stuff to store
At the moment I have pallets of ice Sculptures in my store.:p

This was the biggest job i've done since being selfemployed. Two 15hp Frascold units with two Luve evaporators. The framework is to take the weight of the evaporators as they weight 250kg dry. The room is about 10m x12m x 6m heigh. When i went there last it was so full that you couldn't get in at all, pallets stacked upto the ceiling:rolleyes:

Two-stage compression system with three levels of economizing the liquid feed. About 4,000 HP & 80,000 pounds of R-22!
Oh yeah, all thermosiphon cooled oil coolers too.
In a chemical plant no less...
It's not my biggest, but the largest I have a picture off!
In the picture 7 out of 9 at that coolcentre.
Monkey Spanner is the housing on that evap powder coated?
Hi nh3wizard
Its a white painted/powdercoated steel housing (from memory)
Its about the only thing they have'nt managed to bash with the forklift!
Multi temp, -5, -13 intercooler and -40 lowstage.
got to be the worst condensing units on a market,we take bets to see if there is any pressure in them, and don't get me started on ascon a/c:mad:
God's sake dont buy Acson, contact Daikin in Manc, you can get for same price!!!
Hi!!
You might be interested to know that I did maintain and run a plant room with 10 mono screws installed on FES packs, going as far back as 1987. 2 stage system running cold rooms, in-line carton freezers, chilled water and A/C cooling. Plant was installed in South Africa at a large poultry processing operation. I have always been a fan of the Mono-Screw but I was surprised that it is not very popular, or so it looks to me. I am in the Industrial Ammonia side of the business in the UK.
I just like the noise they make
18 screws mixture of Sabroe and Howden ,9 Baltimore evap condensers ,5 blast freezers .3 -23 cold stores with 25 tonneof ammonia ..
:o The biggest, only system i have worked on atm is 90,000lbs of nh3. 2 stage system run by frick compressors totalling 7600hp.
Ammonia capacity - 12,000 ton atmospheric pressure storage tank - supplied one Howden 255 - 165.
the biggest for me was 3 x Sulzer Unitop Centrifugal compressors running on about 6 ton of R22 and about 12 megawatts of cooling was the largest package unit ever made in the southern hemisphere. It was pressure tested with about 100 large bottles of Nitrogen and vacced out using three very big Edwards pumps with intakes of 2 1/8 ,about 4 weeks to fully vaccume out. that was an experience i will never forget this as about 20 years ago(the good old days)
3600 ton centrifugal R22 chiller.
One centrifugal water chiller at 8500ton in a single compressor.
One R-22 system with two 6500 HP Eliott centrigual API compressors at -20 dF ET
Numerous screw systems totaling 5000 HP or more.
Lowest temp was a -120 dF job utilizing an oil free reciprocating compressor cascaded into ammonina high stage.
Smallest...my home refrigerator.

Hi Guys:)
mines not as big:D
Single screw 321 Howden on a glycol chiller, 6600 volt motor DOL starting.
Did design and specification on larger systems, 6mW glycol chiller comes to mind.
Kind Regards Andy:)
Mine was a Huge Frozen Yogurt plant.
-50, -40, -20 + 18 F
10 Fes units incl. 5 321 boosters and multi 700 hp high stage
Big freezers, tunnels, misc glycol chillers, ice builders and a huge building,, All grass roots design build in the 1980s
Most intersting thing is that it was all auctioned off about 6 months ago.
So much for monuments to yourself...

2000ton 134 a centrif 3400# charge
in cooling capacity it would have to be a 1100 Kw RSW cooling system (roughly 1.000.000 K/cal if I'm correct).
Amount of refrigerant it would be 11 metric tons of NH3 of a freezing, cooling and freezedrying plant
The biggest I ever did was a Rosie, she was 42-39-56, you could say she had it all
the biggest plant on which i was worked it was 4 chillers in paralel york vsm-89 ...each one capacity 5300kw ,500 liters oil each, 1300 kg of R410a each, electrical motor supplyed by 6600v 150amps running at 100% ...
once i replaced one electrical motor and 2 times i replaced the compressor
Such of nice job!

For this past year, how about the installation of a 4000 Ton water chiller, powered by a 13 psi steam turbine (70,000 #/hr steam flow), 2 x 5000 ton electrics driven by VFDs, a 4000 Ton electric on VFD, and then two 5000 tonners, one driven on a steam turbine, the other on electric with VFD !!
