Anyone know of a 22mm compression fitting that is designed to cope with a hot gas pipe for R22 service?
Got a heat recovery system to pipe up, the coils in it are 22mm stainless, i need to join 7/8" copper to it

Hi Monkey.
Can you not swage one and use silver solder?

I know in the distant past I've used compression fittings on SS for an NH3 absorption machine.
There may be other suppliers, I just Googled 'Stainless steel compression fittings', quite a list came up, they were first.
I suppose that you have to weigh up the cost with the time/labour savings etc.
swaglock (compression fitting), lockring (if you have the tool)
Silver solder is OK, good flux, not too much heat on the stainless, you do not want it to go "red"
heat the copper first, then just wave your flame of the SS joint.
Another option would be to tig weld a threaded sst nipple or socket to the sst pipe then use copper fittings from there..
Ginge :)
I go along with Mad, try Swageloc, they have all sorts of weird stuff, second mortgage stuff though. Expensive!!!!!.
Just use a quality 40% ag rod and be gentle with the heat
I pretty sure a man of your caliber will manage ;)
silver solder for me
Thanks for the replies :)
I think i will try silver solder, as i can get some special stainless steel flux and high silver content rods for the price of one of the fittings, and i would need six fittings, the customer is a cheapskate, that why we have this model instead of the one with copper stubs!
I'll post some pics if it goes well :D
Cheers Jon
