I have a 1/3HP compressor pulled out of an old '70s refrigerator. So far I've done some research and found that I may need a 12v power supply that will provide 30amps to the compressor while its starting? Or maybe that i could use 24v and 15a? I've been looking everywhere, but noone really has much on actually powering a vapor phase refrigeration unit.
The compressor says:

on the electrical connection on the side.

Sounds like something that would be powered off a car battery. Maybe a motorhome refrigerator?
I have seen a few refrig 12 Volt supplied or dual voltage 120VAC or 12VDC through the adapting power supply. Never did see one 24VDC. I don't know where a 24VDC refrig would be used. Certainly not in a boat or motorhome, these would be 12VDC. Unless of course it is some special application.

I dont know about over the other side of the pond, but in europe most Heavy goods vehicles & coaches have outputs giving out 24vdc & 12vdc. Usually these come through cigarette lighter sockets so dony know if these would be man enough to draw 15amps, but i do know you can buy in this country 24Vdc fridges for inside the cabs.
