Hi,
I am wondering why does it appear that electricians get paid $10-15 per hour more than fridge men? I was under the impression they would get similar rates of pay.
Any ideas

because stripping wire and terminating cables is a specialist trade and who else could fix a flickering light?:D
Hi Redbull
Good trade to have in OZ from what ive seen.
You get alot of sparkies in OZ doing there split bashing license aswell so it benifits them more on install work. We get are restricted electrical license but would never be able to connect to the mains without doing a full apprenticeship. Wrong really I must admit alot of fridge mechanics are unhappy with that set up especially joe bloggs with a small fridge business who does alot of split bashing to keep his business ticking over.
I can only comment on Perth from when i was there not sure about other states.
I wouldn't say every employed sparky gets paid that much more to be honest, depends on what experience you have and what level of quals you have like us fridge mechanics really.
Hello I am an electro-mechanical refrigeration and can earn much more than 'an electrician. I think that if you have experience with industrial refrigeration can have a lot of money ...........
Hey guys, There is not a 10-15 per hour difference more like a 3- 5 dollar per hour difference. All depends on skill and experience., like all trades.
more demand, thats about it.
so much demand in mining (construction & maintenance) for electricians compared to fridgies.
