Phase change project - need advice.
Hello,
I am currently using a phase change CPU cooling system.
My current compressor and condenser is good for about 250 watts.
I am upgrading CPU's to a setup that will require upwards of 500 watts of cooling (possibly more).
I also want to run a 220v-240v compressor for power consumption reasons.
I was thinking about this setup:
Danfoss SC12G
A new 17" x 16" condenser and 12v fan from a BMW e36.
I figure my condenser should be able to shed up to 1500 watts.
This compressor says r143a, but is there a better choice?
Am I on the right track?
Suggestions?
Thanks!
Re: Phase change project - need advice.
Correction if I may, the compressor is rated for R134a and -35°C evaporating temperature.
Don't forget to keep the compressor in the inlet side of the condenser fan and to pipe up the oil cooling circuit.
Re: Phase change project - need advice.
What cpu are you going to use that puts out 500w ?
Most peeps when building for 300w+ would be charging with r507 when using in a single stage. It runs at high pressure though, so care needs to be taken.

your thinking is really great and thanks for your post
Re: Phase change project - need advice.
Will you dump 1500W of heat inside your office? Dont you think a outdoor unit will be better.. at least for summer use?
Re: Phase change project - need advice.
wow... what a thought, a separate condenser sitting outside, right next to the house AC, just for the computer.

also, 134a is the only refrigerant you can get without an EPA license.
