OK, I am a DIYer. I don't use my vacuum pump very often. Other than putting in fresh oil, is there anything I could do to help my pump survive being on the shelf for months or years at a time without being used?
Thanks,
OC

Ya first get it really warm by blanking off and running then drain all the oil out.
Second run oil through the intake to clear out any debries from the chambers, drain theroughly as possible, at this point it should be painfully hot to the touch.
Once every trace of oil is out of the sump and the chambers breifly purged seal every thing up let it cool then put it on the shelf!
So it is better to store it long term with no oil in the sump or pump?

exatcly you want it to be free of any contaminants.
Thanks! You may have saved my vacuum pump for another job!
