If heat is coming into a substance during a phase change, then this energy is used to break the bonds between the molecules of the substance. The example I will use here is ice melting into water. After the molecular bonds in the ice are broken the molecules are at a higher potential energy state, however they are not on the average moving any faster, so their average kinetic energy remains the same, and thus, their Kelvin temperature remains the same.

Bones what you say is correct ,but I'm talking a phase change. ice to water. Tell me this when you heat water to steam at saturation and the pressure is constant is the steam the same temperature as was the water at 212 degrees? The difference in what you say is apples and oranges

steam i would imagine would be hotter then 100'c (212'F), this is the temp that water starts to boil (enters another "phase change").

OK, They are prevented from bonding because in the superheated state they contain to much energy,don't you know they can only become bonded when they attain balance at the phase change. I am fairly sure that you cannot beat Marc with these questions, so I'll answer it, just to prove that a simple hobbyist is able to answer these questions:
To operate the 3-phase motor on a single phase you either must perform the phase shift with two capacitors, or use a (much better solution) inverter.
I don't know. From what I've learned of these two, that would be a pretty big job! But I'm sure there's a bunch of us here who would be glad to help!Quote:

Don't leave the forum just because you feel that marc is sometimes abrasive. marc has a lot to offer and I'm sure that you do too. Stand up for yourself man - marc obviously does and no one so far has said that they don't appreciate your input. After all this is a refrigeration forum and refrigeration is what we are all passionate about otherwise we wouldn't take the time to visit. On any forum various views are aired - it does'nt allways follow that these views are accepted by all.
Maybe we are just seeing a difference between how people take critisism, but if you believe in your views then stick by them. Lighten up - take it on thre chin and then give as good as you get! can't say it any plainer :)
