Re: What did we do today?
Hey Dude,
I really hate that schrader thing, always seems to hit/spray the groin /nut area. The flare nut flies miles away, the gauge hose never connects straight away. Then end up walking around with oil everywhere like you have piss'd yourself, friggen hate that. ( but suniso is very good for the SKIN so to speak, last time I looked. )

Hmmm, Having some trouble with a walk in freezer room. Compressor change went fine. Customer now says there was sparks coming out of evaporator Before i started this job.... Today's inspection revealed nothing out of the ordinary, so now waiting for that problem to show itself  And No!! Compressor was definitely cactus.....maybe the shop owner was under the influence of a specific mushroom.
Too Funny...there seems to be lots of store Managers at my jobs that have " A specific mushroom problem":D

Re: What did we do today?
Today I am Mister delivery...... Transport strike means I got promoted to delivery boy, just a few little parcels, nothing much............... Fill van to roof, sitting in seat with parcel on lap and still another load to do before knock off O clock. One little load was 111 boxes! Still got half to go fetch and drop, will take van home tonight, even if it is a pain to park, will be less time on my clock, and of course no bleeding overtime........... Sheesh, at least the heater is working in the van, though only in summer, and the fan is knackered and needs to be changed. Van aircon is open window and get hijacked, or close and cook.

Re: What did we do today?
Replaced A Helical Oil Seperator with a Temprite today. I was dreading repiping but it went in smooth. Now im paranoid because it went in so nicely on a Monday......Somethings gotta give:o

Re: What did we do today?
One of the "Good paying" pubs i work for had a costly renovation 3 years ago in the public bar. Contractor has had never ending trouble including two buggered 3 phase compressors. Glad it wasn't my drama however, today was a different story as that company has apparently gone to the wall and now i find myself diagnosing their THIRD compressor failure.:(
The writing was on the wall, don't install another compressor because there is obviously an underlying problem... Take some time to do the maths....Find they had mismatched the condensing unit to the cooling capacity of the evaporators.
It pays to do a background check! ;)
-
Re: What did we do today?
How badly were they out?
Still doing the Mister Delivery, now 2 weeks on. Drove yesterday through one of the strike zones, nothing to see, though they have been and beat up the one courier, and one Owner driver lost 2 rigs to the "unfortunate criminal elements not associated with the striking union members" who stone them and burn them.
Now that summer is finally showing up I am starting to get complaints about aircons...... One leaking pipe to fix tomorrow, leaking water drain.

Re: What did we do today?
Got home early for only the 2nd time this year !
Bounced on the sofa & squashed me left gonad !!!

Re: What did we do today?
Next time use the jocks....... and take the jar and place it on the shelf your wife specified will hold them after the words.......

Re: What did we do today?
All day at the pub. Underneath it to be specific. The owner wants a quick resolve to yesterdays compressor failure. "Stick another compressor in." he says...My thoughts: :( Not with that system's history.
2 minutes later, in comes the staff manager and he isn't interested in putting this weekends alcohol on ice.
Shows me a kit that was removed from service when the renovation took place 3 years ago.
3 Phase, Hmmm..R404a yeah, but only 70 ish per cent of current condensing unit rating.
So, as a temporary solution, ( BY REQUEST/DEMAND).. hook it up. Condensing unit is moved close by,...sitting in the dirt.:(, and i used the buggered units HP/LP by tossing the LP line onto the old burn-out suction line drier after the valve was removed, then extend the HP line to fit on the temporary liquid line.
This setup is working fine  but customers ain't going to have cold p*ss tonight. :p

Re: What did we do today?
Tell em it is British beer nigh, and it will be served warm..................... Have your running shoes on though, and a clear path to the rear exit, along with a couple of crates to pull over and block the exit behind you.

Re: What did we do today?
Paper work, and more paper work. Definitely going to need glasses soon as the writing is going out of focus
Later on... residential reverse cycle swimming pool heater not working?? (28 degrees C outside.. !!) : i'll be there in 30 minutes.
Sean B. Sorry.. i haven't answered your question.
The condensing unit installed at this pub,was around 30% over sized.
That company must have calculated the maximum load, but didn't consider the 2 other smaller "Glass chiller" sections to cycle on/ off on solenoid.
The result was: Compressor short cycling on reduced load when temperature is obtained in just one of 3 areas. (No short cycle delay timer,Install Monkey) p
Short cycling = oil loss from compressor, and shortened life of compressor when cycling too many times/ Hour.

Re: What did we do today?
Just do what half the pubs here do and leave a door open always...............

Re: What did we do today?
drove 490mile round trip to deliver a 6 ton container to excel in London, to find out we should have been there for 8am!,escorted the 33 ton wagon , had to get display stands dismantled, got into position for siting on the 8x3 floorspace, and as its on the 1st floor, waited over an hour to see if 38 ton on 4 outriggers with the weight displaced to the majority over 2 outriggers complete with foot pads of 18 inch sq is less than 18knewton????- finally go the go ahead, and all ok, although the outer outrigger did lift 2 inch so there must have been some deflection in the concrete floor slab!, left at 5pm home for 9 30 as 18mile queue on the m1

I believe Deflection is a bad thing in that type of situation:D
-
Re: What did we do today?
Deflection is not a bad thing, but when you hear creaking that suddenly stops NOW is a good time to be far away, or at least not on the floors below.
