I take a battery cooling project from a company that makes electric buses and I need a 24V DC electric driven compressor. Have you ever seen a compressor with a capacity of 5kW at ET: +5*C CT+50*C conditions?
I have no knowledge of these units but a web seaarch brought up this Chinese lead which might be a start point for you...

The ones used in hybrid and electric cars tend to be 48v 3-phase inverter controlled versions.
I'm sure that with some good electronic inverter controls you can select a compressor that is not
exactly 24v but is a 3-phase inverter controlled one of any voltage. I might be wrong but most car
battery configurations produce 100's of volts and these are regulated down using complex electronics.
So maybe it's not the compressor that you might want to worry about but the electronics controlling it?
