Timeswitch to control 4x wall-mounts
I am planning 4 wall-mounted separate heatpump splits (in adjacent offices) and the client wants a timeswitch to switch them on in the morning and off in the evening (adjustable), with the room users operating the hand controllers during the daytime on-period.
The equipment planned is Midea Air-conditioning
2 x MSG-18HRN2 (5kw)
2 x MSG-12HRN2 (3.5kw)

Sadly this kit does not have a timeswitch feature in the controller.
Question: Can someone give a rough indication on how one might wire in a timeswitch to switch the 4x units? Obviously one cannot just cut the power supply at 6:00pm every evening.
Anyone have some ides on this, please?

Also a good day to you
Re: Timeswitch to control 4x wall-mounts
.
Sadly, some of these cheap imports do not have the basic functions that most UK users expect.
If the system is capable of auto restart, as you imply, instead of interrupting the main supply, why not put a set of volt-free contacts in the indoor transformer, preferably the 12 v secondary.
Keep the wire run to a minimum to avoid voltage drop. Try it first and introduce a basic fault to check that the memory retains malfunctions if the time switch operates.
Otherwise you?ll have to power the lot off each day.

Re: Timeswitch to control 4x wall-mounts
I had a look on the web site that was linked and if you select the wall mounted range then click on the link it shows wiring diagrams for both the indoor and outdoor units. Should be easy enough to find a wire to interupt with a timeclock.
Alternately, you could quote the job with some decent Daikin, timeclock installed on the hard wired remote as standard :D
Re: Timeswitch to control 4x wall-mounts
To be honest there will be a lot of work involved to add a Home made time clock feature to those units.
I would also expect the warranty to go as well.
I would suggest Mitsi Heavy FDKA wall unit range, they do the small inveters, with scoll compressors, and they all come with Wired controllers with a 7 day time clock function far easier to program than the Daikin (High light a box) ones
Being Inverters, they will save on Running costs and claim the 100% TAX back :)
and they will cost you less than Daikins.
Job done.
