"New" R507/R404 replacement

Has anyone heard of a "new" R507/R404 replacement? I have heard the blend will be changed to replace the R134a in the blend with I believe it is R123 and therefore lowering the GWP to less than the R407 gases but keeping the same properties. Anyone heard anything about this?

Greetings Coorsman, Something doesn't sound right here. R-123 is a chlorine containing HCFC and is scheduled for phase out for ozone depleting reasons, so I doubt it is being used in replacement blends. There is a relatively new refrigerant, R-1234yf which might be what you heard about. It is a very low GWP gas with properties similar to R-134a and is being adopted by the automotive industry to replace R-134a in mobile AC applications. 1234yf is also starting to be looked at as a blend component for stationary applications but these are still a way off in the future but with ever increasing regulatory pressure to lower GWP products it is the direction the industry is headed.
