  • Hazardous Waste Regulation

    Please Help
I have pumped down several units from 2 sites and taken away the units, then reclaimed the refrigerant from my workshop/yard, I’m filling out The Hazardous Waste Regulation Consignments Note, and asked for the site address waste was removed from.....Technically I have removed it from the unit at my premises, or do I need to put both address down, but the form only has room for one address?

    Thanks Jason

Hi, technically you are the same and as at one, as the waste producer & waste carrier etc.
Your waste premises code should cover you. Your code should be within 200kg though per year Total for all waste gases etc per site. If you are mobile like me then your ok to put the origin of the kit/gas as the site. They dont have a waste code so it's yours to log/account for, only difference is that the gas wasnt removed technically from the kit at site into cylinders as a waste only as a whole kit and all! To me same difference! It was removed from that address even though at that time you had no idea of the 'true' weight of the gas. Your paper work should have the gas weight & type & contamination/dilution etc on it. Though its such a grey area to decide this you will be fine as long as it all tallies up. Please be carefull that the end produce of waste doesnt include you disposing of the 'machine' as well in the hazardous waste in weight volume. Its the gas we are concerned with here. make sure the oil's disposed of correctly too!!

Hi Just a note here that if you remove the machine from site with gas you should also have a full waste carriers ticket
I think you can carry the gas cylinder/s to and from the wholsalers but not the machines

Hi, for the removal of the equipment from site technically it is waste so you need to hold a waste transfer licence end of!
You will need to have a premises code for your house as this is where the waste is going to be collected from, that is if the site has not got a number then use there's!
The law says that if you are/were to put onto your vehicle a single bit of say; cut-off pipe or an old stat or drier/filter light tube (or any one of these) then you will need to have a waste transfer licence sorry
Electricians around my area have been stopped and asked for their licence....this can be just a warning but could also be a fine of up to (I’m told) £2000.00 ( lets see if you can get a licence after you have been stopped as ONE of the questions on the application form IS have you been stopped before applying!!!

      Hi,

The problem with equipments is the oil inside them. Once you can decontaminate them from oils, you can carry them quietly for their recycling.

When a system has gas in it, this gas is mixed up with oils, so, the residue is exactly the oil, not the gas nor the system's raw materials.

      Regards,

      Nando.
