How to calculate the capacity of an air conditioner?
(Cooling capacity) :(

To do it properly is quite a complex task, with different K-values for different wall/ceiling/floor/window/door types.
There are computer programs out there that will do it for you, like hevacomp.

Then there are various "rules of thumb" that can be used as guide lines, for example, here in UK you normally allows 150 W / square meter for general areas (any dense heat loads will have to be added as extras).
Down in your neck of the woods I expect the heatload to be slightly higher.

i think u meant to put a 0. in front of the 150kw. i believe it is generally 0.150 kw per square metre of area.

Ooops,
Well spotted, maybe that's why I'm loosing so many jobs...

The question was how to calculate the capacity OF an air conditioner. Not the load for an A/C.

Unless something miss-translated.

A rule of thumb for cooling output is

(air on °C - air off °C) x air vol m³/sec x 1.2 (density of air) = kW

Hope this helps.

wow, thats a handy formula to know!! thanks for that :D

I read the question the same way as viking did, as in how to work out the capacity required, but who knows. doesnt matter, coz both questions got answered anyway :D

and LOL at the losing jobs bit haha :)

Bendoky, multiply your room surface with 637 W. I should say, only as a guideline.
Oh, this is only valid for cooling.
