Hello

I am looking for a chart that will give me the line sizing from different pressure drop and temperature from the lbs/min of the HFC refrigerant (R-134a, R-404a, R410a). Such as the old ASRHAE RP 185 book and refrigerant line sizing (R-22, R-12, R-502, R717).

Best wishes for 2003

Kathleen, ASHRAE's 2002 Refrigeration Handbook has published line capacities for for R-134a, R-404A, and R-410A (see chapter 2). You may also find Sporlan's Form 5-162 interesting. It lists line capacites for R-134a and R-404A, but not R-410A at the moment. It also contains useful refrigerant data, conversion factors, thermodynamic terms, etc. You local Sporlan rep or wholesaler can get this for you.

Hello Prof sporlan,

In chapter 2 of ASRHAE they give a fast chart but not by lbs/min with different choice of pressure drop, therefore we can decide if it is better to increase or reduce the line sizing.

I do not have the sporlan one but I will ask for it. Because I would like to review my line sizing for the problem I have with capacity problem. And the chart I use was a fast one in tonnage only, with different line length and I think they might be to short. And a real flow density chart will be of good help.

best regards

Kathleen

Hi, Kathleen:)
I don't use charts, I'am just to lazy to look them up. What I do use is a pipe sizing program from Danfoss called DirCal, this can be downloaded for free from there web site.
Danfoss Selection Software (http://uk.refrignet.danfoss.com/SW/UKRA_Product_Selection_openNet/en_gb/index.htm?click=c_{F57E407C-3A95-4B78-9239-F860369F0FFB})
Alternativly they may send it to you by post if you ask nicely.
If you have any problems on using it it drop me an email, it's very good when you get it figured out.
Regards. Andy.

Hi to all,
