Hi

A store under refit has a new ht coldroom with two blowers with R404a valves.Temporary services have been supplied from R 22 pack until new R404a pack are installed.I thought this would never work but it runs fine no flood back or starvation and the valves have not been adjusted how can this be.

Regards Bernard

Yeah it'll work, will also work the other way too (r404 in an r22 valve) - gotta love refurbs. But I'm sure if you really got into it (mass flow rates, enthalpy) it would be underperforming in some way but not enough to have any massively adverse affects.

I've seen it too, the pressures and kW ratings aren't too far off each other.

Both gases work with pretty much the same carastistics that the differance between the valve will be almost negligible.

A 404A valve will need to have a larger orfice at full load conditions than a R22 valve. Maybe your unit has Balance port valve on it and has the ability to open or maybe you are not at full load conditions at this time.
