It would sound like you have a Condenser that that is not working.
However you MUST provide more details about the system in order for us to help you.

The compressor should not cycle on the HP switch as this is a safety.

High discharge pressure is caused by a condenser problem of a discharge blockage.

What type condenser do you have?

Or there could be too much refrigerant in the system.
Or the condenser unit could be undersized.
or it could be shut up in a little room(just had this one myself tee hee)
or wrong refrigerant in the system.
or HP switch faulty.

firstly it should not cycle on hp due to it not being a part of controls but a safety precusion,

Most common cause if faulty condenser fan or blocked condenser coil (fins blocked with dust and dirt)
See if the condenser is clean and the fan is working.
edit: But I have to add, if you didn't check these things, how would you know it's cycling on HP, could be cycling on LP?

As said before, this is a safety issue and so the HP switch should be a MANUAL reset, not an AUTO reset.....these are for cycling fans for head pressure control.

if you say the compressor is too hot, it could be cycling on the thermal overload,i suggest you let the compressor cool, than you can start trouble shooting .some of the possible causes the have been listed by other posts.
however a leak in the suction can make the compressor to suck in non condensibles , creating high pressure and making the compressr hot.Z(checking will do you no harm)
