I'm recharging an R22 dehumidifier unit after clearing out a restriction at the cap tube. I was wonder how much subcooling would be typical for one of these capillary tube dehumidifiers. This unit has a sensor that sets a defrost mode if the suction line gets too cold. It is rated for operation down to 40F, 4.4C. I currently have it charged to 17 F superheat and it's pulling moisture out as it should. Suction side reads 59 PSIG and 44.6 F, 7C.
