Hi,

I'm new to this game and could do with some useful pointers?

1) How do I establish condensing temperature?
2) What is saturated evaporation temperature?
3) How do I establish suction line temperature?
4) How do I establish discharge line temperature?
5) What is sub-cooling?
6) What is work heat?

Any help on the above would be greatly appreciated.

u will get this basic info in any of the R&AC book. if availble refer this Principles of refrigeration-R.J. Dossat

Thanks for that, I will try and obtain a copy.

Cheers

Hi,Pipelini.

1)Your condensing temperature should be 10...15 deg C more than environment temperature in air condensers (5...7 in water condensers).
2)I know only about saturated vapor (conditions of the refrigerant when their last drop vaporized in evaporator, better to say).
3)+4) Temperature increase in suction and discharge line is small (only 3...4 deg C).
5)Sub-cooling is the difference between Tk and temperature after condenser (pressure is the same in both cases).

Hi there,

1) How do I establish condensing temperature?

Measure the discharge pressure. Go to the refrigerant temperature-pressure table and find the corresponding temperature. This temperature is the condensing temperature.

2) What is saturated evaporation temperature?

This is the evaporating temperature- assuming no pressure drop in suction line.

3) How do I establish suction line temperature?

Measure it with a thermometer.

4) How do I establish discharge line temperature?

Measure it with a thermometer. Or calculate it by cycle analysis.

5) What is sub-cooling?

Measure the condenser outlet line temperature (t1). Establish the condensing temperature (tc).
Sub-cooling = tc - t1

6) What is work heat?

Heat generated due to gas compression.

Hope this helps.
