Oil management for rack or Pack as we call them in the UK are many and varried.
But they have common features.
The oil is removed from the discharged gas by a seperator and is then passed either directly to the comps or to a small oil receiver. This receiver is not normaly kept at discharge pressure, normaly the pressure is vented back to suction and the oil is kept at a few bar above suction pressure.. The oil is filtered and then goes back to the comps. It is let into the comp either by a float valve assembly or by a solenoid valve that is operated by sensors.

The systems work for high temp, low temp or mixed temp systems, the only difference is the delivery pressure of the oil.

There are many, many methods and every pack manufacturer uses thier own prefered system.
They are prone to oil filters blocking and false readings on some electronic controlers but for the most part they are reliable and work well.

Cheers taz.
