I am trying to build a auto cascade freezer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Trying to reach -60C

Use propane on low cascade and CO2 on high one. I heard something about analog. Do you want to use it for CPU cooling?

Vango, you're being a tad vague, with the amount of detail you gave me my best answer I can give is : Yup.

Thats it. More detail then we can go some where :)

An autocascade is not the same as a cascade.
An autocascade uses the principle of a gas mix (2 or more, even 6) where each is separated frm the others and where each extracted gass then cools its own heat exchanger/gas separator to separate the next gas in then 'diluted mixture'

Hi Vango,

As Peter said auto cascade is different.
Please have a look at the attached file which is a simple example of auto cascade system.

Cheers

Thank you Peter_1 and Lana. Your observation about autocascade was useful for me. I made a mistake, sorry ;(

I just find some links about autocascade: http://gomeler.com/2006/07/06/autocascade-design/ , http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/p2762737.html . This guys made their autocascade machines.

Hi there, I am new to the forum and I have a question on the auto cascade. I am in the process of building a auto cascade system and I was trying to use R-507 and R-23. In your opinion can I make these work in a system piped accordind to your layout? Are you using a flat plate heat exchanger for phase change? What ratio of refrigerant have you found to work well. More R-23 than 134a?

Hi cascader 23.

If you just need -60c, you can go the easy way.

Use ISCEON MO89 which is similar to the R13B1 wich is gone out of business for many Years ago.
That one make easy -60c on a standard system.
Not sold in the US or Canada due to flameable in some conditions.

Wish you all a Happy New YEAR:)

ASHRAE Refrigeration Manual had a pretty good explanation and diagram of the auto cascade system.
