Electronic vacuum gauges

How is the experience of such gauges. Are they Good?

Which make is reliable?

I have used them in the past but hade to buy a new one every year because it broke. Now i use a analog vacuum gauge and think they are more reliable and more accurate.

Most digital gauges have a stepped scale, for instance 500 micron, 1000 micron, 2000 micron. An analog one doesn't, so even the littlest increase will show!

I use the digital ones at the moment and they have to be throughly cleaned after each use or they stop working..im looking to buy an analogue one very soon. Much better in my opinion

I must be the lucky one then....

I've used a CPS digital guage for some years now without any problem.

Clean the sensor with alcohol every now and then and it's been fine.

Cps for me too. Followed by thumb on vac pump exhaust:o(no hiss on removal, its finished sucking:p)
They can be a usefull guide as to when the vac pump oil needs changing.

Perhaps you are lucky Brien or perhaps certain amongst us know not how to operate them. I for one bought a Refco recently and could under no surcustances get it to hold a vacuum. Coming home from the bar one night I thought (as you do when you're,... well you know) "ah thing ah knows wahs wrong wi'h it" and chose to over look the fact that it was under guarantee. I took it to bits and:

PERCUSSIVE MAINTENANCE. The fine art of whacking the crap out of piece of kit to get it to work again.

Before this it didn't work "a bit". Now it doesn't work "at all". Funny though when you switch it on now it says
SHNROBLIP.

Hi All,

I recently bought a CPS Electronic gauge and its the best piece of equipment i have.
There was i thinking that pulling a 30" vac and leaving it half an hour would be ok. Then i got called to a coldroom with moisture problems, and to sit there with 2 vac pumps on the system watching how long it took to get down to 250 microns amazed me. Guage goes on every time now.

OK, so you guys are saying we can trust the CPS electronic vac meter. Might try it out one day.

BTW rdocwra, have you been in an R404A explosion or something, you look a little blue!
