Hello guys, I have recently obtained an annie a2-12 compressor tester. Upon reading the instruction manual, I've found out that is the 60Hz only version - a bit disappointing:(. My question is can I still use it for starting compressors?, as it will be fed with 240v 50Hz. I guess that the other functions wouldn't be accurate because of the frequency change as it is set up for 60Hz, but I only ever use it for starting.
Any thoughts appreciated

Can,t see why you would not be able to use it..
The start bits are only switches and capacitors.

Hi Andy AC
Either u throw it away or use a Electronic Frequency Inverter to reduce the 60Hz to 50Hz & 240V to 230V. I hope this will solve ur problem

Suny, have you ever seen or used an Annie starter?:o

Andy,
If a 60Hz unit, will it not be designed / rated for 120v?
This will mean caps (and transformer?) are wrong voltage.
I havent used one of these, so not sure if a transformer is present....somewhere there was a circuit on a previous thread.

You can feed it on 110 or 220v power @ 60hz, I still haven't got around to giving it a go but I will let you know what happens.

Dear Peter_1

I am very sorry for the comments I made. By an oversight I misunderstood it. Therefore I would kindly request you to delete the above post of mine.

Why not write or call Thermal Engineering about your question.

I have the same unit which my sister sent me from the USA. I have used it as is to start and reverse 240/50hz compressors no prolbem.
If no sure get an old scrap compressor from a dump site and test.
