Hi,

I īve had a disscusion this morning: Can anybody explain me if there is any problem with discharge of compressor 130š C with ammonia. I think that the oil could get damaged, but a friend of mine says that there isnīt any problem. The reason of this high temperature is putting a the deshuperheater (semi-welded plate heat exchanger).

What do you think?

Hi, Friobernal:)
130 c is excessive for a NH3 plant even running on synthetic oil, why anyone would design a system to run at a temperture as high as this is beyond me. Investigate your compressors, the normal high temp cut-out setting is 90 c anything above this is due to poor design or damage in your compressors. If they are recips investigate you valve plates, if they are screws pray you are in for a big bill for replacement compressor bodies.
