Where is the best location for a defrost termination stat?

Unit in question has one located in top corner furthest away from the expansion valve but the defrost is still not clearing all the ice!

Currently set to every 4 hours 12 deg C!!

Thanks :):D:)

Is it a mechanical stat or electronic?
It needs to be placed in the evap about 3/4 the way up and about a hands stretch in from the edge.
Prove the stat is working, fully defrost the coil to start then adjust time and temp to suit. If need be up the termination temp to 14 and see what happens.
If the coil is electric it will defrost differently to hot gas. Place the sensor higher up to the top if needs be.

Cheers taz.

i do it slightly differant, ,top run of the coil inside the side cover, expansion valve side if poss, where the trouble of ice build up normaly starts, start at 8 deg termination, 5 min drain time, 20 mins duration,2 min fan delay ,put through a defrost while there and feel the coil as its defrosting to make sure it does not go over heat and terminates, pop back if poss a couple of days later, ajust time and termination if needed, works for me.

We have been known to do it slightly different on some sites and position the probe on the expansion side of the TEV header for problem jobs, doesn't effect product integrity as we delay the evap fans longer.
