Hi Guys/gals

I am looking at a data printout from a 40ft container.

The columns are annotated “Air On” – “Air Off” and “Rear” and the data is temperatures.

Now I can figure out that “Rear” is the temp at the rear of the container, but what do the “Air on” and “Air off” temps indicate?

Thanks in advance for assistance.

Hi Paula,

My guess would be the air temperatures entering and leaving the evaporator coil are being described by those terms.

Air On = air temperature entering the coil (sometimes called the return air)

Air Off = air temperature exiting the coil (sometimes called the supply air)

These are the only instances of where I have heard these terms used (on air-cooling coils or air-cooled condensers).

Thanks Iceman

I thought that might be the case. Just wanted someone to confirm it.

Well if we are correct, then we have a consensus of two!

I'm pretty sure this is correct.

You'll sometimes see it expressed as Entering air temperature (EAT) and Leaving air temperature (LAT).

The difference will be shown as delta T(greek delta).

Some programs that I have seen use that terminology for what temps the unit turns on or off, just a wild guess

US Iceman's guess is absolutely correct.
