I'm new. Although C&G 'qualified' but not in the trade. Mainly for my own hobby and curiosity. I've got a carvell blast chiller running on R404A. The evaporator needed replacing due to a small leak at a difficult to access place( only detectable by UV method.)Is it neccessary to add some POE oil after the replacement? If yes, how much should I add. The cooling capacity of the unit is 4KW. Full charge capacity is about 1.2Kg R404a.Thank in advance.:)

Add oil if the oil level in the compressor is low, not because you changed the evaporator.

Hello, welcome to RE.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Sometimes it may seem like a lot of oil came out when changing parts or leaks occur but remember, a little oil goes a long way.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm not going to add the oil. Just a matter of interest, the compressor was hermetrically sealed like most other small units and oil level cannot be assessed. How would one find out if there is adequate oil?

Does the new compressors being sell on the shops got oil in them?:confused:

Welcome, yes all new hermetic compressor will come with an oil charge.
