Torque Wrench Set

Does anyone have a link to a site that sells a DECENT A/C Torque Wrench set complete with a good selection of open ended fittings?

The set I use now, which is the only one I've seen for sale is the cheap & tacky Refco one.

I've never been impressed with it's quality or reliability and recently it's stripped the flare off a few 1/4 flares despite being set at 18NM!

All the Automotive units (before someone suggests it) don't have any bigger open ended fittings than 23mm! :(

I think dean and wood sells a decent one but my catalogue is out of date. Am looking to get one myself so any feedback would be good.

Not directly, but my mate is the Service Manager at a local Main Dearler garage and they have a Toolman who comes weekly and supplies all the major brands of tools.

I left the REFCO Kit for him to look at and to see what he could come up with and he drew a blank.


Getting a decent Torque Wrench is not the problem, it's getting the range of open ended fittings! :(

Most engineering parts which require specilist torque settings are things like Cylinder Heads etc etc, and these generaly have multiple bolts of 10mm or smaller and to boot do not require open ended fittings.

A/C nuts of 23mm plus which require torque settings are a unique breed it seems! :confused:

If you look carefully the Wrenches look identical and the bottom line is the price says it all! :(


£40 all in is TOO CHEAP for anything remotely decent, or more importantly accurate!


A quality Torque Wrench on it's own can range from £100 -£300 without fittings so £40 all in must/is Cheap Tat! :confused:

If you want really good quality. This company supply purpose made kit either pre set individual or adjustable set. They supply to Space Air. The adjustable set is about £499.00 www.torqueleader.com I have a set of individual preset wrenches but find some sizes don't fit other than Daikin kit. I think 1/2" is normally the problem. But I notice the adjustable kit has 7 spanner ends so maybe they cover all.

i use the dean and wood one never had any problems and seals them good as long as the flares are good should be no prob thanks adam
